Father's Day

A few weeks ago we were invited to tour our neighbor's homestead and see the baby animals. They were adorable little baby pigs and goats and chickens. They actually make their living from their farm. All four of us went, Winston, Ganesh, me, and Georgie. When we left they were so nice and offered us some home-grown sausage and uncured bacon that they had just put in the freezer from freshly—ahem—slaughtered one week earlier. We tend to be vegan and avoid animal products but, we've never had to the opportunity to taste such fresh and wholesome meat that wasn't treated inhumanly or shot up with drugs or heavily processed, etc.

We hung on to it and finally broke it out for fathers day. I realized Bacon is a very appropriate for this day because we brought home the bacon. It was very delicious. I especially enjoyed the sausage because it less resembled an actual cut of meat. I'm weird like that, the less the meat resembles any animal body part the better. We also realized how unsalted real bacon is. The store bought bacon is cured or something I guess and is super salty. Cheezit got to feast on all the little bits left over.

Last night I had a dream that the wind blew so hard that the big gate fell down and I looked out the windows and thought, “oh, no! the fuzzies can get out.” And I thought that the front gate was open and the yaks could leave the property, but they were just standing there looking at the gate and didn’t go out. When I woke up, I initially had the urge to look out the window and see what was going on, then I realized it was a dream and I didn’t have to check.

Why can’t we just have a little bit of extra money?
we need so many things. Some of them are quite urgent:
• kitchen remodeling so we actually have a drawer to put our silverware in.
• finish the unfinished basement so that we actually have enough bedrooms for us all to live in.
• a greenhouse.

Those three things are probably the top priority, but there are more things we kinda need. Such as a pickup truck to haul hay. Right now we have to buy hay that is plastic-wrapped and it's more expensive. A trailer, and a tractor really wouldn’t hurt with different attachments like a snow pusher and a tiller, maybe a fork lift. I've asked Saint Anthony to find a buyer for our large culver pipes and for our humongous culvert pipes. I said, "I realize this isn't exactly something lost, but it is something we need to have found. Please help, Saint Anthony!" We need a very large shed, and a detached garage. And another shed would be awesome one to make a dedicated gym-circuit in a shed, that would be so cool. We need money to make a cement walkway around the whole house so we don’t have to walk in the mud and if it was graded right, it would keep the water away from the house. I want to have rain collection barrels to water the plants with. We need money to make a back patio, and put a hot tub so we can see the stars. We need even more money to pave the driveway…that would be awesome. Ganesh wants to make a tennis court, need money for that. I really want an organized garage…with actual garage cupboards and peg board and tool box and work bench. I’m sure there are many more things, but that’s all I can think of right off the bat. So many things. I wouldn’t mind a barn so that I could put the fuzzy babies in a barn if we needed to, or it would also give us the room for a horse if we ever get the opportunity. Our chicken coup is pretty funky, it would be nice to have a real chicken coup that’s cute like some that I’ve seen. And I also need things that money can't buy, like courage and a back bone to face my adorable overly friendly yaks.
